Matt Krause is most well known around campus as the play-by-play caller for the UNC women's basketball team. He also calls games for a variety of different sports outside of the university's athletics. The audience always hears the calls, but they don't always know the caller's story. In this package that aired on UNC Sports Xtra, I fit Matt's story into a two minute video.
Emanuel Williams runs at Division 1 track meets with competitive times, but he doesn't run on a varsity roster. He enjoys the balanced lifestyle that UNC's student-operated run club allows him to have while he still has opportunities to race on big stages as an unattached athlete. Emanuel has forged his own path as a member of the club running team.
Sebastian Glennon is a freshman at UNC on the varsity fencing team. Before he started college, he was recruited by Team USA for the pentathlon, which he had no experience with prior to joining Team USA. After spending his entire summer training, Sebastian tells the story of his experience diving headfirst into the unique sport.
More than just a spreadsheet: using big datasets to produce more accurate, informative journalism.
